Introduction to Perf ProtoGrid

Learn how Perf ProtoGrid helps you plan physical perfboard layouts before you start soldering.

Perf ProtoGrid is a browser-based workbench for planning circuits on perforated circuit boards. It lets you choose a board size, place reusable footprints, draw connections, and save projects before moving to the physical workbench.

Why plan digitally?

A digital layout helps you catch spacing problems, crowded routes, and incorrect footprint dimensions before soldering. The grid mirrors the holes on a real perfboard, so every placement has a direct physical meaning.

The basic workflow

  1. Create or open a board from the workspace.
  2. Choose footprints from the library or create your own.
  3. Place footprints and draw the required connections.
  4. Save the project and export a reference image for your workbench.

Your workspace

The workspace stores your projects and private footprints. Start with a small board while learning the tools, then increase the dimensions as your circuit grows.
